Hajj and Umrah
Organisation of Hajj and Umrah trips.
Hajj and Umrah are two acts of worship based on visiting the Kaaba in Mecca. The main difference between them is when they are performed: Hajj on specific days of the year, Umrah at any time except during the days of Eid al-Adha.
What is Hajj?
Hajj literally means “to intend, to set out towards”. As a term of Islamic jurisprudence, it means visiting the Kaaba in the city of Mecca and the holy sites around it at a specific time and in the prescribed manner, and performing the other required rites. One of the five pillars of Islam, Hajj was made obligatory in the ninth year of the Hijra. The Holy Qur’an states: “Pilgrimage to the House (the Kaaba) is a duty owed to Allah by all people who are able to make their way there” (Al Imran 3:97).
What is Umrah?
Umrah resembles Hajj in the form of the visit; however, unlike Hajj, it does not have to be performed in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. A visit made outside the Hajj season is called Umrah, and it can be performed at any time except during the days of Eid al-Adha.
Akahan Turizm organises Hajj and Umrah trips under its Group A Travel Agency licence.
